Four Arrested in Nairobi Drug Bust as Detectives Raid Student Apartment

Four people, including two foreign nationals, were arrested in Nairobi on Tuesday after detectives uncovered suspected cannabis and drug distribution equipment during an anti-narcotics operation.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the arrests were made during a raid at Denluck Apartment, a residential complex commonly occupied by university students. Those detained were a 25-year-old Serbian citizen, a 25-year-old Tanzanian national, and two Kenyan nationals aged 26 and 28.

According to the DCI, officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) at headquarters carried out the intelligence-led operation. Detectives recovered quantities of suspected cannabis sativa hidden in household containers, along with items believed to have been used in the preparation and packaging of drugs.

The seized items included weighing scales, scissors, lighters, rolling papers, a crusher and small envelopes commonly associated with drug distribution.

The suspects were taken to Muthaiga Police Station, where they remain in custody as investigations continue. The recovered materials have been secured at DCI Headquarters for forensic examination and documentation.

The operation highlights ongoing concerns about narcotics trafficking in Nairobi, where both Kenyan and foreign nationals have been linked to drug-related activities. Law enforcement agencies have also raised concerns about the use of residential buildings and student accommodation to conceal such operations.

The DCI has urged members of the public to provide information that could assist investigators in disrupting drug trafficking networks, stressing the importance of community cooperation in tackling the problem.
