National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate leader Raila Odinga has dismissed an advert doing rounds on Social Media asking his supporters to boycott Safaricom's services.
In a tweet, the opposition leader said Nasa had not placed such an advertisement in any daily newspaper and dismissed it as “fake”.
“NASA Coalition has not placed any such advertisement in any publication.” Raila said in a tweet on Tuesday.
In the "fake" advert, Nasa asked supporters across the country to boycott the telecommunication firm “as a measure of the people’s voice against the ongoing efforts by Safaricom Limited and the Jubilee Party to steal yet another election”.
About two weeks ago, the former Prime Minister had threatened to announce a mass boycott of Safaricom products on allegation that its staff were involved in a scheme to rig the nullified August 8th election.
Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Bob Collymore was , however quick to rubbish Raila's allegations terming them as “callous and unnecessary”.
Safaricom, together with Airtel and Telkom had been contracted by the electoral commission IEBC to transmit election results in the August General Election.
