The Kenyan High Commissioner to Australia, Ambassador Dr. Wilson K. Kogo, will lead a delegation to New Zealand on February 14th and 15th, 2025, to provide essential consular services for the Kenyan community living in the country.
This visit is part of the Kenyan government’s ongoing commitment to support its diaspora, enabling citizens to address various documentation needs and strengthen their ties to home. Accompanying Dr. Kogo will be a team from the State Department of Diaspora Affairs and representatives from the Department of National Registration Bureau.
The team will offer a comprehensive range of services, including the issuance of Kenyan national identity cards, passport processing, authentication of driver's licenses, issuance of police clearance certificates, the processing of birth certificates, dual citizenship applications, document legalization, and emergency travel certificates.
To facilitate the application processes for national identity cards, on-site forms (136A and 136C) will be available for attendees. The organizers encourage interested individuals to review the necessary requirements for their services in advance and complete a Google registration form, which will assist in effectively addressing the community’s needs.
Although the Kenyan population in New Zealand is relatively small—numbering 324 residents as recorded in the 2018 Census—with a median age of 24.2 years, the community is notably vibrant and continues to grow. This youthful demographic presents significant opportunities for cultural and economic contributions to New Zealand.
This initiative aims to streamline logistical hurdles and ensure that Kenyans in New Zealand can easily access services, thereby reinforcing their connection to their homeland. While the specific venue for the visit is yet to be determined, preparations are actively being made to ensure a professional and seamless experience for participants.
The Kenyan diaspora is encouraged to stay informed through official communication channels, as this visit will represent a vital opportunity to reconnect with their heritage and address pressing consular needs.
