The Jubilee Party will be issuing direct nomination certificates to eight top politicians who are unopposed in the primaries in their quest for leadership in the August 8 polls.
Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi who is contesting for Meru Governor seat, Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka who is seeking to retain his seat, and Garissa Township legislator and leader of Majority in the National Assemby Aden Duale are among high profile politicians who will receive their certificates from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party.
Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji (defending) , Mandera Governor Ali Roba (defending his seat) and MPs Aden Keynan (Eldas), Ben Washiali (Mumias East), and Mithika Linturi (Igembe South) will also be issued with the direct nominations certificates.
President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that the party was not going to issue direct nominations to any candidates until the exercise was completed. “No one seeking our party’s ticket – from MCA to President – will be given a direct ticket until after the nominations are held and the electorate has picked their choice," Kenyatta stated.
Jubilee Party is receiving complaints from dissatisfied aspirants in the concluded nominations exercise and will be processing certificates for nomination winners to be issued starting Monday.
Reports indicate that the party has received over 100 complaints from aspirants who lost in the just concluded nominations process. Their cases will be heard by the party’s appeals tribunal.
