Deputy President William Ruto Reacts to Supreme Court Ruling

Deputy President William Ruto has reacted to Monday's Supreme Court decision that upheld the reelection of President Uhuru.

The DP took to Twitter to express his happiness with the unanimous decision issued by six Supreme Court judges on Monday.

“Halleluyah! Glory to God in heaven. He has remembered our nation, given us hope & future. Wakenya jameni mubarikiwe mpaka mshangae together," he tweeted.

Reacting to to the ruling outside the apex court, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale said the verdict opened the way for the swearing in of President Uhuru, stating that the hard task now is to bring together the country.

“After every bitterly contested election there are fallouts among the ranks and citizens. It is the role of every government and president to make sure that he carries everybody, those who voted for him and those who did not,” he said, adding that through devolution and Parliament, leaders must purpose to unite Kenyans.

In its ruling read by Chief Justice David Maraga, the apex court sad the two petitions challenging the October 26th election lacked merit.

"The court has unanimously determined that the petitions are not merited. The petitions are hereby dismissed. The presidential election is upheld," Chief Justice David Maraga said.
