About 11 heads of state have so far confirmed their presence at the fete that will mark the beginning of Uhuru's second and final term in office.
13 other heads of states will be sending representatives or send their country’s second-in-command, envoys or a minister, the Foreign Affairs Ministry told the Nation.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Botswana’s Ian Khama, Rwanda’s Paul Kagame, John Pombe Magufuli of Tanzania, Edgar Lungu of Zambia, Ismaïl Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, Namibia’s Hage Geingob, Faure Gnassingbé of Togo, Mohamed Farmajo of Somalia, and Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn of Ethiopia are top leaders who have confirmed their presence.
Nigeria, Guinea, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, and Yemen, Senegal, China and Japan, South Africa, Britain, Ukraine, US and India will send representatives.
President Uhuru has invited his competitors to work with him in building the nation following extended political period.
“To my competitors, we didn’t compete because of the language one speaks or the tribe where one comes from, it is about ideas and there must be a winner and a loser because we are a democracy,” he said when he attended a church service in Huruma on Sunday.
“There is no need of disturbing Kenyans, they did their part, it is now our duty to sit and agree on what we should do to Kenyans,” added Uhuru.
