UN Hails Unity Agreement Between President Uhuru and Raila

The United Nations through its Secretary General António Guterres has hailed the unity pact reached between President Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga.
In a statement, the UN boss commended the two leaders over the move, which he said is a step towards uniting the country.
"The Secretary-General welcomes the statement issued jointly by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga on 9th March 2018 declaring their commitment to work together to strengthen the unity of the country for all Kenyans,” the statement read in part.
Guterres further assured of United Nation's support towards the peace and unity initiative started by two former political antagonists.
The two met at the Head of State's office in Harambee House on Friday last week and agreed to work together going forward and bring Kenyans together.
In his speech after the meeting, President Kenyatta mentioned: “We have a responsibility as leaders to be able to come together to discuss these issues and to find solutions that will bind our people, that will unify the country, that will give us a life cycle that is beyond the five [election] years”.
On the other hand, Odinga noted: "We have resolved that the future our nation is more important than any sole individual".
