Four Arrested Over Family Bank's Sh24 Million Robbery

Police have arrested four people in connection to the robbery of Sh24 million from Family Bank's Ruiru branch over the weekend.
The four, all employees of Family Bank were arraigned before Kiambu Chief Magistrate Stella Atambo on Tuesday, but weren't allowed to take plea.
The suspects identified as Jane Wanjiku, Robert Nduriru, Silus Mugo and Charity Wanjiku will remain in custody for the next days as detectives probe the heist.
Investigating Officer Paul Wambugu told the court that the four are believed to have conspired in the robbery that occurred either on Saturday or Sunday night.
Ruiru OCPD James Ng’etich said the bank's security manager, John Muchiri reported the incident to police after discovering that burglars had broken into the premises.
“After opening the bank, John Muchiri discovered that the alarm system had been tampered with."
“On further checking, he discovered that the fire alarm system had been vandalized,” Ng’etich said.
“They managed to access the strong room to the safe by cutting the door using welding gas cylinder power and further accessed the ATM machine using claw bars,” the police boss added.
The robbers reportedly gained access into the bank through the kitchen roof. A gas cylinder and four claw bars were recovered at the scene.
