Gov't Renames Hospital after Retired President Mwai Kibaki

The government has renamed Othaya Level 6 Hospital after former President Mwai Kibaki.
Health Principal Secretary Peter Tum on Tuesday announced the facility will now be referred to as Mwaki Kibaki Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The government official announced this during a tour of the multi-billion medical facility which has taken seven years to construct.
The PS who was accompanied by area Member of Parliament Gichuki Mugambi and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga said the renaming was in honour of the retired Head of State.
Tum said the mega facility will be operated by the national government and will mainly offer services related to non-communicable diseases.
The hospital is expected to serve residents of neighboring counties including Laikipia, Murang’a and Kirinyaga.
