Randy Boissonnault, Canada's Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, highlighted the country's commitment to attracting global talent in the tech industry. Kenya's High Commissioner to Canada, John Lanyasunya, emphasized the benefits of this development for Kenyan expatriates. "Our professionals are well-regarded for their expertise and adaptability, making them highly sought after in Canada's tech sector," Lanyasunya said during a meeting with the Kenyan Diaspora Alliance in Toronto. He added that Kenyan professionals are contributing significantly to industries such as software development, data analysis, and cybersecurity.

Additionally, the Canadian government has made strides to address the processing times for work permits, with IRCC reporting an average processing time of two weeks for applications submitted under the Global Talent Stream. This efficiency has made Canada an attractive destination for Kenyan tech professionals seeking international opportunities.

However, the transition is not without challenges. Kenyan professionals often face hurdles related to credential recognition and integration into the Canadian work culture. The Kenya Diaspora Alliance is actively working to support professionals in navigating these challenges.
