Kenyan football Legend Joe Kadenge Laid to Rest

Kenyan football legend Joe Kadenge was finally laid to rest at his home in Soliani village, Hamisi sub-County, Vihiga County on Saturday.

Hundreds of mourners led by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga converged at Gisambai Primary School grounds for the burial ceremony of the football great, who captured the heart of Kenyans in his prime.

Other leaders present were ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Vihiga Governor Wilberforce Otichilo, Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary-general Francis Atwoli, and many top football administrators.

Speaking at the burial, Odinga said Nairobi’s City Stadium will be renamed after Kadenge, who passed away while undergoing treatment at Meridian Hospital in Nairobi on July 7th. Kadenge died at the age of 84 after a long battle with stroke.
