15 Kenyans, One Foreigner Test Positive for Covid-19

Kenya on Saturday confirmed 16 additional cases of the Covid-19 disease, raising the total number of infections in the country to 262.

The 16 positive cases were confirmed from 1,015 samples tested in the past 24 hours, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said in a media briefing on Saturday.

15 out of the 16 people who tested positive for the bug are Kenyan nationals while one is a foreigner. CS Kagwe said none of the 16 patients have a recent history of travel abroad.

The 16 cases are spread out across three counties including nine in Nairobi, five from Mombasa and one from Homa Bay. The patients are aged between 23 and 84 years.

At the same time, CS Kagwe announced that seven more patients have been discharged from hospital after recovering from Covid-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 60. The death toll from the virus also increased to 13 after two more patients died.

Eight out of the 262 patients are aged between zero and 14 years, 70 are between the ages of 15 to 29, 164 are aged between 30 and 59 years while 20 are above 60 years.

Kagwe said the following Nairobi estates have cases of Covid-19; Kilimani, Karen, Kawangware, Pipeline, Utawala, Mlolongo, Eastleigh, Buru Buru, Tassia, Parklands, Dohnolm, Hurlingham, Madaraka and Ngara.
