CCTV Footage Shows Events Leading to Fatal Shooting of Businessman Kevin Omwenga at His Kilimani Apartment
A CCTV footage has shown the events leading to the fatal shooting of Nairobi-based businessman Kevin Omwenga inside his apartment in Kilimani’s Galana Suites on Friday night.
The footage obtained by Citizen TV shows activities outside the deceased’s apartment before he is rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The 28-year-old car dealer is said to have succumbed to a single gunshot wound on his chest.

The footage shows the first man disembark from the elevator on the seventh floor and walks straight into Omwenga’s house at 8.40 pm. At 8.42 pm, a second man exits the same elevator and enters the deceased’s apartment.
Seven minutes later, Robert Obodo who has since been arrested in connection with the shooting incident, is seen leaving the apartment but returns exactly five minutes later.
A minute later, a man dressed in a black hoodie is seen leaving the apartment and comes back 10 minutes later. A minute after the hooded returns, another man dressed in a white t-shirt appears from the elevator and walks into Omwenga’s apartment.
Four minutes later, the man dressed in a black hoodie leaves the apartment again. At 9.27 pm, the second man to enter the apartment leaves.
At 9.34 pm, the man dressed in black hoodie returns in the company of another man. Two minutes later, a man of Asian descent leaves the apartment and comes back minutes later. He bumps into Omwenga outside the elevator and after a brief conversation, they enter the lift.
At 10:35 pm, Omwenga goes to his apartment in the company of a woman. Obodo who had left the apartment at 9.41 pm, walks into the apartment four minutes later.
At 11.22 pm, the man dressed in a black hoodie is seen heading to the elevator and pressing it many times while looking confused. He finally leaves after going back and forth.
At 11.24 pm, Obodo walks into the elevator and back to the apartment for a couple of times before finally leaving the apartment. He is seen removing a firearm from his back pocket.
At 11.32 pm, two men emerge carrying Omwenga as Obodo wipes blood from the floor using a bedsheet. CCTV cameras on the ground floor show three men in a hurry to take Omwenga to hospital.
The vehicle carrying the deceased leaves leaving behind Obodo and the woman who had earlier accompanied Omwenga.
Obodo is said to have shot Omwenga inside his bedroom, according to reports. He was arrested on Saturday alongside Chris Obure who is said to be the owner of the pistol used in the incident.
