Policeman Shoots 22-Year-Old Girlfriend 6 Times After Quarrel

A police officer attached to Kabachi Police Post in Meru County has been arrested for shooting his girlfriend six times.
Constable David Nyamweya is said to have shot Everlyn Njoki outside Laare Police Station canteen on Saturday night following a brief quarrel.
The 22-year-old woman who sustained serious gunshot wounds in the stomach and legs is presently fighting for her life at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in Nairobi.
Were it not for his colleagues who intervened and disarmed him, Nyamweya would have killed the woman, according to reports. Eight spent cartridges were collected from the scene of the crime.
Reports indicate that Nyamweya had recently been transferred to Kabachi Police Post from Laare Police Station and on Saturday evening, he excused himself from work saying he was going home to pick a jacket.
He then went to Laare, 20 kilometers away from his duty station to meet his girlfriend and an argument ensued leading to the shooting incident.
"The officer said he would come back. He had his full uniform and a gun when he traveled to Laare," an officer told Daily Nation.
The woman was rushed to Meru Level Five Hospital in critical condition before she was referred to KNH. Area Deputy County Commissioner Charles Langat confirmed the incident but declined to give more details.
The victim’s father said he was aware the officer was dating his daughter but their relationship became stormy after Nyamweya was transferred.
"She said the man had been beating her and was unhappy in the relationship. I talked to them and they reconciled. The two had visited my home and I had agreed to their relationship. I didn't expect it to result in this. I want justice for my daughter," he said.

Njoki's case ends tomorrow after Nyamwea's arraignment in court.Kenya's constitution favors murder/criminal suspects than victims or their families in case of death."Corruption justice" takes over after the suspect is realesed on bond. What happened to 07/08PEV murderers,Obando,Jowi,Marebe etc cases?

@ GG,beating someones daughter is a no,no.Its bad enough even if you beat your own daughter and now a damn stranger does that and you beg him to reconcile with your bartered daughter?Wow,were are out garland men?
Time and again, reports have shown as that abusive relationships that start with mere beating,or slapping usually progress to dangerous stages later.Being a man, ihave grappled with any sound reason that would make a woman risk her life for a brute of a man,and have not come up with one.Still looking. To women, isay,if a man touches /beats you up,let it be his last touch.

Gallantry seems to have disappeared with the inception of covid19. Cases of men beating their spouses in on the increase.I also chance to say that there is a big age difference between the 22 year old girl, and the policeman.Unfortunately when two people with vast disimilarities york together, trouble is bound to manifest. Iam generalizing, ofcourse, since exceptions exist.

CS Fred Matian'gi needs to come down really hard on such cases that are tarnishing the image of Kenya police.
Kenya Police are known to be Greedy, Money Hungry, Human Rights Abusers, Very little regard to human decency and human dignity And Very Corrupt.
Such cases are appearing in the media every day. Misuse of Firearm has become a daily occurrence.
Only God know's who will die next under such circumstances. Am even now afraid of going to Kenya let alone live there again.
Justice Must Prevail and served expeditiously. The book must be thrown at full force to this scumbaag.

The father, some of the police and judges are also abusers, or socialized to accept gender-based violence. there is no one to hold anyone accountable. No need to blame the survivor. She is a prodcut of a culture of violence. that's why she reconciled. don't forget that survivors are forced to stay in such relationships out of fear for their lives and family members. They are threatened that if they leave there will be consequences. It is a shame that so many women and children are subjected to violence everyday. This needs to stop.
