Two DCI Impostors Arrested After Summoning MP to Nairobi Hotel for Questioning

Two people masquerading as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have been arrested.
The two, Dennis Moturi Nyakundi and Victor Omare Onsare, are said to have summoned an MP through social media using a forged notice.
They asked him to present himself at DCI headquarters in Nairobi for questioning over an undisclosed matter, the DCI said in a statement on Thursday.
The MP whose identity was not revealed later received a phone call from a private number and was informed that the meeting venue had been changed from the DCI headquarters to a Nairobi hotel.
The two suspects were apprehended at the unnamed city hotel on Wednesday evening while waiting to meet the MP.
“On being suspicious of the inconsistent events, the MP reported to DCI Parliament where a trap was set and the two suspects nabbed,” the DCI noted.
The two are facing various charges including attempted extortion and impersonation.
