KRA Officers Seize Heroin, Bhang Stashed in Clothes at JKIA

Officers from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) have seized heroin and bhang at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.
KRA on Wednesday said the narcotic drugs were being smuggled through an international courier company.
Heroin was on transit from Juba, South Sudan and was destined for Cambodia while marijuana was from Kasese, Uganda and was being ferried to France.
The illegal substances were detected while passing through non-intrusive scanners at the airport.
“KRA Customs officers jointly with other officers from the multiagency team at JKIA opened the consignments for 100 percent verification after the scanner showed some concealments,” KRA said.
Heroin was stashed in buttons of dresses in the consignment, while bhang was wrapped in a black polythene paper concealed in an inner pocket of a kitenge cloth.
The packages were seized separately and were handed over to the anti-narcotics police unit. KRA did not disclose the value of the seized drugs.
