Former Kenya Attorney-General Githu Muigai Lands Government Appointment

Former Attorney-General Githu Muigai has been appointed the chairperson of the Public-Private Partnerships Petitions Committee.

Muigai was appointed to the position through a gazette notice published by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani on February 24th, 2021.

He will chair the committee whose members include Mohamed Abbey Mohamed, Janice Kotut, Eunice Lumalla, and Sadick Mustapha. 

The tribunal is established under the Public-Private Partnership Act, 2013. It considers all petitions and complaints filed by a private party during the process of tendering and entering into a project agreement under the act.

In 2018, Muigai was named among the non-executive chairpersons of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and Legal Education Council.

The attorney resigned from the position of the Attorney-General in February 2018 and was replaced by Kihara Kariuki.

Muigai served in the position for seven years after taking over from Amos Wako in August 2011 following the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution.
