Man Arraigned in Court for Threatening to Shoot President Uhuru Kenyatta

A 22-year-old Kenyan man who allegedly threatened to kill President Kenyatta has been arraigned in a Kiambu court.

Simon Muchiri was arrested after he made a Facebook post in which he stated that he would shoot President Kenyatta if he had a gun.

The court heard that the suspect shared the post on February 27th from an unknown location within the Republic of Kenya. He was arrested after detectives reviewed the Facebook post and tracked him using his mobile phone number.

He is accused of improper use of his social media account by employing it to cause unrest to the Office of the President and persons associated with it

"...that on February 27th at an unknown place you published on your Facebook page that you would kill President Uhuru Kenyatta without hesitation if only you had a gun," the prosecution told the court.

The accused denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh200,000.

Kiambu Principal Magistrate Grace Omodho set March 15th, 2021 as the pre-trial date, where the prosecution will table the evidence they intend to use against Muchiri.

Kamata yeye na ufinye. You do not have to respect Uhuru but you have to respect the presidency & the seat he occupies. Furthermore, having Ruto arap wheelbarrow for president would be a disaster for Kenya.
