One Person Dead, 9 Hospitalized After Consuming Illicit Brew in Nyahururu
Police in Nyahururu are investigating an incident where one person died after consuming an illicit brew.
Nine other people were on Sunday rushed to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital in critical condition after drinking the same liquor.
Felix Masongo, a medic at the hospital said the victims experienced vomiting and stomach aches on Sunday morning. He indicated that most of the patients were found unconscious from a single point.
Three were treated and discharged while six were admitted to the hospital and are being stabilized.
It is not clear what kind of liquor the victims consumed but Dr. Masongo noted that the drink was laced with a poisonous substance.
Laikipia County Chief Officer for Health and Medical Services Dr. Donald Mugoi said investigations are underway to establish the composition of the alcohol. He warned revelers against drinking illegal brews and drinks from unlicensed establishments.
A resident said one of the bar owners in the area invited them to a party after his wife gave birth. They were then served alcohol after which things went downhill.

Comrade Kora Kanini,you are right Sir.Some people what proclivity to alcohol, others to sex,others to money, others to food,which leads to addition.Not many people,especially those who pride themselves in being "ok",and having strong will realize that addiction is abrain disorder characterized by compulsive engagement in rewarding stimuli,despite ADVERSE CONSEQUENCES.
Therefore its not only the addicts that suffer,but these adverse consequences have that affects alot of people,and the community at large.
