Businessman Jimi Wanjigi claims that property worth over Sh10 million was destroyed during a raid at his Kwacha Group of Companies offices in Nairobi.

Wanjigi made the claims through his attorney Willis Otieno when he was arraigned at Milimani law courts on Wednesday morning.

The court heard that the heavily armed officers deployed to arrest the businessman broke into his office, causing extensive damage.

“They broke into the office and caused damage to property worth more than Sh10 million. We are still doing assessments to come up with the exact figure,” lawyer Otieno told the court.

The lawyer further faulted police over the arrest, saying it was illegal since there was an existing court order restraining Wanjigi’s arrest and prosecution. The court was adjourned until Wednesday afternoon to verify the said court orders.

Wanjigi, who is eying the presidency in the forthcoming elections, was dramatically arrested on Tuesday evening following a 20-hour siege by police at his Kwacha Group offices in Westlands.

The arrest came hours after a Nairobi court issued an arrest warrant against the businessman, his wife Irene Nzisa Wanjigi, and six others over alleged conspiracy to commit a felony and forgery of a title deed.

Wanjigi and his co-conspirators are accused that on diverse dates between April 9th, 2010 and June 6th, 2018, they conspired to commit a felony namely forgery of a title deed registered under the name of Horizon hills limited.

The presidential aspirant insists the arrest was politically orchestrated and has blamed President Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga for his predicaments.

Secrets shared by the elite become public only when a rivalry of sorts comes into play...otherwise, the games go on as long as 'we eat together'. Wanjigi, 10m worth of property is equivalent to Wanjiku's 10k or 100k - uchungu ni ule ule but Wanjiku never recoups hers, your ill gotten streams of income will recoup your lose in a few months.
