ICT CS Mucheru Says Raila's Popularity Has Increased to 64%

ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru says Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga will win the upcoming elections in the first round.
Speaking on Sunday night on KTN’s Checkpoint show, Mucheru claimed that Odinga is likely to win by over 64 percent of the vote, citing various reports in his possession.
He argued that the selection of Nark-Kenya party leader Martha Karua as Odinga’s running mate, and the return of Kalonzo Musyoka to the Azimio coalition has given Raila a huge lead over his main rival William Ruto, who is vying on a UDA party ticket.
“Many reports are showing the numbers continue to change and are in favor of Raila. Bringing in Martha and Kalonzo coming in we have seen these numbers have increased. Now it is over 64 percent,” CS Mucheru said.
At the same time, Mucheru opined that Odinga, who is giving his fifth try at the presidency, will garner 50 percent of the votes cast in the Mount Kenya region.
CS Mucheru also defended Interior PS Karanja Kibicho over his remarks that figures by the National Intelligence Service (NIS) placed Odinga’s popularity at 60 percent against Ruto’s 38 percent.
“It is not wrong to tell someone if they have asked you a question and you give them an answer. It is not a campaign. PS Kibicho was asked what are the numbers showing. He gave what the numbers are showing. He did not tell anyone to vote for Raila Odinga, he was just asked what the numbers are showing,” Mucheru added.
