Petition Filed to Impeach Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza

Petition Filed to Impeach Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza

A Meru resident has petitioned the County Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against embattled Governor Kawira Mwangaza over gross misconduct and abuse of office.

Thuranira Salesio Mutuma, a human rights defender, listed 11 grounds that warrant the impeachment of Governor Mwangaza, who has been at loggerheads with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).

“The Governor has violated, infringed, and threatened the Constitution and all other relevant provisions of the law hence the grounds of gross misconduct and abuse of office have merit,” Mutuma said.

Mutuma accused Governor Mwangaza of nepotism in her appointments and delegating duties to her husband Murega Baichu, who is not a State officer, hence not allowed to act on behalf of the Meru County government.

“The husband to her PA is the official driver of the governor. Her cousin is the government spokesman and her husband is the MYS [Meru Youth Service] patron which is clearly nepotism, illegality and irregularity,” Mutuma says in his petition.

In addition, Mutuma cited the October 19th incident where the governor stormed the County Assembly with rowdy youth as well as referring to the MCAs as cartels without any evidence.

“The Governor admitted that she stormed the County Assembly by force with goons who dishonored the honorable house,” he said.

Mutuma also accused the governor of being disrespectful and rude to MCAs, adding that she publicly declared on her Facebook page on September 11th that she was not ready to work with other leaders since she is an Independent Governor.

Last week, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) put Governor Mwangaza, who was elected on an independent ticket, on the spot over alleged nepotism and conflict of interest.

The woman is so corrupt that she didn’t waste a second to embark on egregious corrupt deeds!!!

Meru county is full of corruption.

Those MCA’s are more corrupt than her.

    It’s good they’re fighting.

That's what happens when you elect a "Bishop" as Governor. She's running Meru like a church where she is not answerable to anyone.

    Matthew 5:25 ...
Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.

We must be proud of our religious ancestry
    @ Kenya
Are you a Jew? The bible is a collection of the Jewish traditions, cultures, history, language, names, religion, and their entire concept of their metaphysics. Unless you are a Jew by birth, you are terribly misinformed and thoroughly brainwashed.
The same goes with the koran. Like the bible, it fulfils the same role but addressed to the people of Arabic descent.
See what the new Prime Minister of the U.K. has taught the people of our continent! You don't have to change your name, religion, language, culture, history, your skin color, and the texture of your hair to be accepted as a human being! He (Rishi Sunak) was born in England, has maintained his name, languages of ancestry (Hindi & Punjabi) religion, and has full command of the English language, but observes his traditions and culture in the U.K.
I commend some of the Gikuyu people for maintaining their names, (majority of them) language, and religion and culture more than any other micro nation of Kenya. Congratulations my Gikuyu brothers and sisters.

The New Prime Minister of the U.K. Mr. Rishi Sunak, has inculcated into our minds the idea of everyone being proud of their religious origins.

Since devolution meru had Munya, kiraitu and now Kawira.
Kiambu had Kabogo waititu and now Wamatangi
Nakuru had Mbugua Lee and now Kihika
No county or nation can develop with this kind of business changing leaders over and over again. So people from the mountain either don't get it right or flow by the wave regardless of leadership qualities.

You cannot thumb your nose at the system like that madam and expect to survive.Unemployment is a real and very big problem especially in the rural areas your blatant arrogance of hiring first your husband and then your sisters shows that if you are not tamed you will do worse. As the governor you have to learn how to manage people who will outright show you defiance without running to church to pray and cast out out their demons. You and your MCA’s may detest each other but you have to learn a way to work with them because you cannot govern without them:You do not appear to have what it takes and before you know it you will be without a job further reinforcing the notion that women make horrible managers making decisions based on emotion rather than reason. Those who rule by the sword often die by it.
