2022 KCPE Results Out: Lewis Omondi and Fwaro Makokha Lead with 431 Marks

Otieno Lewis Omondi Glen and Fwaro Makokha Robinson have been identified as the top candidates in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.
The two tied at position one in this year’s Standard Eight exam after garnering 431 marks out of a possible 500 points.
Omondi is from St Peter’s Mumias Boys Primary School in Kakamega County while Makhoka sat his examination at Christ the King Primary School in Bungoma County, Nation reported.
"I was not expecting it, I only expected to be among the top ten students but being the first one in the nation has come as a surprise and a joy to my family, to my school and to myself," Makhoka told reporters.
The examination results were released on Wednesday by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, who bucked tradition by failing to name the country's top students. He said the leading candidate scored 431 marks, an improvement from the 2021 exam where the top student got 428 marks.
9,443 out of the total of 1,244,188 candidates who sat this year’s exam scored above 400 marks, 307,000 scored above 300 marks, 619,582 had 200 marks and above whereas 1,170 candidates scored between 1 and 99 marks.
Machogu said female candidates performed better than their male counterparts in English, Kiswahili, and Kenyan Sign Language. Male candidates performed better than their female counterparts in Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, and Religious Education.
Candidates can get their results on their phones by sending their index number followed by the initials KCPE to code 20076. They will be charged Sh25 per SMS.

I read something very interesting in the dailies today. Some of you probably did as well, and that is doing away with "glamorizing " students who excel. For this puts unfair competition on students.Meaning un necessary stress, shame, and pressure. Wow! we are on a path that will soon water down our already weak educational system. Soon some will start complaining and expressing desire to do away altogether with testing students, because it is draws unfair competition.Such rumblings are already being voices by some concerned parents in USA. Unbelievable!
