Raila Responds to Reports of Uhuru Resigning from Azimio Coalition

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga has refuted reports that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to resign from his position as the coalition’s chairman.
Odinga, who addressed reporters after attending a mass at Mombasa ACK Cathedral on Sunday, termed the reports as fake, adding that Uhuru remains committed to the Azimio coalition.
"I don't know where you are getting that information from. I was with him [Uhuru] just yesterday. Even I talked to him just this morning. He has not given me any impression that he is going to resign from Azimio. That is sheer media propaganda. Uhuru is very much a member and part and parcel of Azimio leadership,”said Odinga.
The ODM party leader equally dismissed claims that there is a power struggle within the coalition, insisting that the coalition is still intact and ruled out the possibility of disintegrating.
"There is nothing like a power struggle within Azimio. We work together very closely with Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta and Hon. Martha Karua, we are going to strengthen Azimio as we also strengthen the constituent parties of the coalition," Raila added.
The Azimio coalition was formed in the run-up to the 2022 general election after 26 parties, including ODM, Wiper, Jubilee, Nark-Kenya and Kanu, teamed up and fronted Odinga as their presidential flagbearer with Karua as his running mate.
