Gachagua Calls Azimio Demands on the 'Cherera Four' Impossible

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday morning differed with Azimio's demands for the reinstatement of the four members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) who left the commission following a fallout with IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati.   

Gachagua denied Raila-led claims that President Ruto's regime rigged its way to the apex office. The DP urged Raila to retire from politics or wait for 2027 to vie for the State House race again. His submissions came while speaking at Wanjohi while presenting relief support to families displaced by heavy rains. 

"How come he is the only presidential candidate who claims to have been rigged? It is the fifth time now he is claiming rigging. They (opposition leaders) should wait for the 2027 elections and vie again," said the Deputy President in Nyandarua County. 

He said that Ruto's government won't give Azimio leaders the elbow room to proceed with their 'detrimental' protests. Many leaders accompanied Gachagua's visit to the region including Governor Kiarie Badilisha, Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia, Woman Rep. Faith Gitau, and Ministry of Lands Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS)  Kimani Ngunjiri. 

Gachagua called on Central leaders to unite in delivering for their people. He stated that the reinstatement of the 4 members of IEBC was impossible since 3 willingly resigned and a tribunal removed 1. He also reiterated that their government will not engage in any handshake and that Raila should voice his complaints through the Parliamentary Bipartisan Committee.
