Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has alleged that police raided his Laikipia and Nairobi homes for reasons not communicated to him.
The police have distanced themselves from the involvement of the raid in Mr Njenga's Lavington and Karen homes in Nairobi and Ol'Ng'arua and Nyahururu's Muthaiga in Laikipia County. The Ex-Mungiki leader reported that the raid happened between 4 am and 6.30 am, however, he has failed to present any evidence to back his assertions.
A labourer posted at his Muthaiga home in Nyahururu town reported that at 6.30 am he saw a group of armed men arrive at the premises aboard two Land Cruisers. The labour allowed them to search the premises after which they left without mentioning a thing.
"They knocked on the gate and said they were here to conduct a search. I let them in and a few minutes later they left without saying a word after searching the house," he said.
Reports from Mr Njenga's Ol'Ng'arua's home state that armed men searched the home for more than an hour. They also requested to learn about the whereabouts of Njenga.
"They raided the house and ordered us to give details of Mr Njenga's whereabouts. But we didn't know where he was either, so they left without saying a word," said a worker at Ol'Ng'arua's home.
Nyahururu Sub-County Police Commander Tom Okoth denied any knowledge of the raid saying none of his officers was engaged in the alleged raid. This news comes amid reports that Maina Njenga is plotting to disrupt the Saturday funeral service of Mukami Kimathi, the widow of freedom fighter Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi.
On Thursday, Mr Njenga alongside Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga visited the late Mukami's home and promised to attend the funeral service.

Nyayo Days are back with full vengeance. Don't forget for a minute that Samoei is a graduate of Toroitich's academy of politics and ruling through fear and intimidations.
I just want to thank Uhuru Ngina Kamau (the former president) for warning Kenyans against voting for Samoei as his successor.
Most likely he's messed up with the same people he used to hang around with, Mungiki, so most likely they are looking for home . Maina, please make peace with them.
