President William Ruto has praised his relationship with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for being better than the one he shared with retired President Uhurur Kenyatta.
President William Ruto during a media engagement on Sunday at State House said that he wouldn't wish for his deputy to go through the treatment he experienced while serving under Uhuru Kenyatta. He added that he wants his relationship with his deputy to remain positive and buoyant throughout their term. Mr Ruto further revealed that he used his own money to foot operation and administration costs after the office of the deputy president was shut.
“You know what I went through while I was the Deputy President. The office of the deputy president had been shut during the previous administration. I used my own money to fuel cars, even buy tea for guests and pay allowance for workers,” he said.
The head of state said that his administration will grant DP Gachagua the latitude he deserves to operate without interruptions.
This move, will in return help Ruto assign duties to Gachagua. In describing Gachagua, Mr Ruto said that the DP is work-oriented and always in his office engaging in meetings.
“My deputy is very busy, today he can hardly have time. Today he is permanently in the office because I have assigned him responsibilities. When you get people to help you work, it becomes easier and better,” he divulged.
