Embakasi Gas Explosion: 3 Confirmed Dead, 280 Injured

A gas explosion rocked Mradi Village in Embakasi, Nairobi, Thursday night, claiming three lives and leaving 222 injured.

The incident, unfolding just before midnight, has led to the displacement of families and widespread property destruction. Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura has confirmed that two individuals died during medical treatment, while another succumbed on Friday morning. Meanwhile, DCI officers have apprehended a guard on duty during the explosion.

Contrary to initial reports, the government now clarifies that the blast didn't occur at a gas refilling plant but resulted from a gas-filled lorry, triggering a rapid and destructive fire. The flames damaged Oriental Godown which specialises in garments and textiles. The injured are now undergoing treatment at various hospitals, including Kenyatta National Hospital and Nairobi West Hospital.

A massive fireball swept through the area, inducing panic. Additional explosions followed, heightening chaos and damaging vehicles and businesses. The government assures that the situation is under control, with a command centre coordinating rescue efforts. The public is advised to avoid the cordoned-off area.

Witnesses recount a peaceful evening shattered by explosions, towering flames and billowing smoke. One witness describes "massive explosions, fireballs illuminating the sky, and people running and screaming." Another resident shares, "The power went out, and some hurriedly left the neighbourhood. The fire engulfed a warehouse near Skyline estate and an informal settlement called Mradi." Fleeing masses, surrounded by terrified cries, sought safety to escape the inferno. Evacuating homes, residents described enormous explosions, a sky ablaze with red hues, and the absence of firefighters.

There is nothing wrong with donation appeal as the same hungry billionaire Kenyans have been paying billions to less than 4000 staff of the 2010 SCAM KATIBA staff. They include less than 1000 prostitutes nominated to sexually service their elected men.The same crying babies have been financing private political parties owned by billionaire elites to the tune of bllions.
