DAP-K Denounces Forged Letter Claiming Leadership Changes
The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has rejected a circulating letter that claims major changes to its leadership, calling the document a forgery.
The letter, dated 12 November 2025, alleges that an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee resolved to remove Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa and Secretary General Eseli Simiyu. It further claims that the Registrar of Political Parties was asked to update official records to reflect the supposed decisions.
Although the document carries a signature and what appears to be an official party stamp, DAP-K states that both features are falsified. To counter the misinformation, the party released the document with a red “FAKE” watermark. The forgery also uses the name and signature of Acting Secretary General Seth Panyako in an effort to appear authentic.
The letter asserts that Governor George Natembeya has been installed as Party Leader, with Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula Angatia appointed Senior Deputy Party Leader and Panyako named Secretary General. It presents these changes as immediate and urges the Registrar to record them under the Political Parties Act.
DAP-K maintains that no NEC meeting took place and that no disciplinary action has been taken against its senior officials. The party affirms that its leadership structure remains unchanged, with Wamalwa as Party Leader, Simiyu as Secretary General, and Natembeya as Deputy Party Leader.
