Hijab Clad Health Minister Nabs Two Hospital Workers After Soliciting Bribes from Her

Two health officers were on Friday caught red handed soliciting for bribes after Uganda’s Minister for Health Sarah Opendi conducted a dramatic sting operation at a Kampala hospital.

Dressed in a hijab and veil, the minister arrived at the hospital posing as a patient, which helped nab a laboratory technologist and nurse at Naguru-China Friendship Hospital in Uganda's Capital, Kampala.

Opendi arrived at hospital a boda boda and lined up at the general outpatient department at around 10am to seek treatment.

Things then turned dramatic at the facility after an officer asked her to part away with UGX150,000 (about Sh4,500) to perform tests on her recommended by the doctor.

“I never had all the money but I gave him UGX100,000 (about Sh3,100) and pleaded with him to allow me bring the balance later. He then gave me his number and name as Ssozi,” the Minister says.

Christine Namanda, a nursing assistant was also arrested after she asked the minister for UGX5,000 (about Sh 150) bribe to avail testing strips used to diagnose diabetes.

The suspects will be questioned by the Anti-Corruption detectives before charges are lodged against them.

@Kenya, what if our CS for Health would go to Kenyatta disguised, .....your guess is as good as mine...

-what if the KCB Branch Manager in Westlands would leave his cubicle and pose as a mwananchi queuing to wait to see the Business Manager -- he wouldn't believe how wananchi 'of-no-means' sit their butts on those chairs while indians walk straight to the Manager, stand-over the sitting 'black' Kenyan now being served after waiting for hours as damn indians came and stood-over other black Kenyans who had served their time on those queues as they watched queue-jumping indians get served without queuing. KCB queuing makes me sick!

-what if the lands CS would pay a visit to his own ministry as a bui-bui clad mwananchi.... he'd leave with a bunch of bribe-soliciting workers in hand-cuffs

...but our own leaders don't want to put any extra effort, all they care is pay at the end of the month....wananchi can take care of themselves.... i guess.

Kenya, you are right. The problem is that,Matiang'i may have his own price that might compromise this ethical standards. May be he could take 10 million... who knows. But entrapment is the most effective way to catch these"prostitutes".
