IEBC Pushes Repeat Presidential Election to October 26th

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the change of the repeat presidential election from October 17th to October 26th, 2017.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chabukati on Thursday said the move was triggered by the detailed judgment delivered by the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

The new date, which will still be within 60 days of the general election allowed by the Constitution, will allow the commission to meet the standards spelled out the Supreme Court, said Chebukati.

“There is no doubt that the judgment impacts on the election operations and in particular technology to be deployed,” Chebukati said.

“In order to ensure that the commission is fully prepared to deliver an election that meets the standards set out by the Supreme Court, we wish to notify the public and all stakeholders that the fresh presidential election shall now be held on Thursday October 26, 2017,” added Chebukati in a press release.

IEBC further said it will provide more details on its preparedness for the repeat election.

Kenya chief Justice David Maraga, while delivering the judgement on Wednesday said the the commission did not follow the stipulated law in the August 8th presidential election and thus declared the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta as null and void. He added that he will not hesitate to issue the same verdict again if the commission still does not carry out the repeat election in strict adherence to the law.

“As for the IEBC, all we are saying is that, the constitutional mandate placed upon it is a heavy yet, noble one. In conducting the fresh election consequent upon our orders, and indeed in conducting any future election, IEBC must do so in conformity with the Constitution, and the law. For, what is the need of having a Constitution if it is not respected?” four Supreme Court judges posed in their judgment.

Justice Njoki Ndung'u and Justice Jack Ojwang' dissented with the majority judges.

MOVE FORWARD: TUSONGE MBELE

Kenya does not have any shortage of capable people with lots
of experience and expertise in IT. We must replace Brother Chebukati and all his crew members with a new, technologically advanced, and untainted crew to administer the election on October 26.

True Story: why Supreme Court had to change date of reading Judgement from Tuesday to Wednesday::-
The Majority decision ready on Monday had very specific orders against Ezra Chiloba and three Directors. It largely mirrored what Orengo had been preaching about the "suspects". However, when they got copies of the minority decision, especially the Njoki Ndung'u confirmation that their Decision to nullify elections on alleged unsigned forms, and missing serial numbers was based on false reports from Registrar and the Court Appointed Experts, they had to hurriedly change.
Faced with such huge shame, that he made decision based on false reports, and he failed to Countercheck, Justice Wanjala took off to Britain.
Meanwhile, Chiloba survived, after it emerged that it was Chebukati who presented a fake Final Form. Indicting Chiloba and letting off Chebukati - the Coup Plot guy inside IEBC- would make no sense.
Raila and the Coup Plotters needed Chiloba out so that the cooking of results would easily take place at IEBC.
The fact that the Ruling never ordered the removal of Chiloba is what infuriated Raila yesternight.
We shall keep you updated about the Coup Plot that is slowly and surely collapsing....

******

Very plausible in light of Chebukati's two prematurely 'leaked' memos, each of which he ended up claiming was not a reflection of things in the IEBC, yet the damage to Chiloba cannot be erased. Chebukati is the evil link in that commission.

In 2000, the US Supreme Court gave the loser (George Bush) the presidency of the US after they refused to re-count the election results in the state of Florida. Had they counted them again, Al Gore would have been in the White House and that would have voided the "Iraq unnecessary war."
