Raila Reacts to "Shithole" Remarks by US President Donald Trump

National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga has demanded that United States President Donald Trump retracts and apologises over his racial remarks, where he reportedly called African nations and Haiti as “shithole countries”

In a statement to the media, the opposition leader said the racial slur made by the American Head of State is troubling and unfortunate and demanded he “unequivocally” apologize for his actions.

“The remarks made by President Trump are part of a growing habit by a president who has never missed an opportunity to bully and disparage particularly poor nations,” the statement reads in part.

Odinga further termed the remarks as deeply hypocritical, stating that Trump ignored the fact that United States corporations have camped in African countries and are making billions of dollars which they send back to America.

“Recent media reports indicate that President Trump views Africa as a market for US goods and services and is keen to slow down on issues of democracy and human rights in pursuit of trade in Africa. Africa cannot be a market and a nothing at the same time,” the statement reads.

“Mr. Trump must equally be reminded that many of the poverty and governance related problems that keep Africa down result directly or indirectly from US foreign policies and interference,” the statement added.

Raila urged all African leaders to rise and stand up for Africa’s dignity by demanding an apology from Trump.

Apologise over what? We are a shithole continent who cannot feed themselves. We refuse to accept defeat at elections because of our shitholism. We pay our mpigs better than our doctors. We resist the upgrading of shunties and slums because we want to live in shit. And when Trump calls us what we are, we start complaing.

Raila is right on this one! Letters should be written by All African heads of diplomatic missions demanding an apology. The functions of US Government in Africa, should not be jeopardized by stupid statements of one Trump.

What a hypocrite Raila is? And now Godec who is yet to apologise for his boss utterances will preside over dialogue between Raila and Uhuro because I guess they(US) came up with the funds to do so. Very infuriating. We as Africans can not continue to demand respect on one hand and begging for a few coins on the other. Raila you are an embarrassment and a shit hole too.

Even though Raila made
the correct response to Trump's shithole comment, he is not sincere. He and his western masters have continuously sought to destroy our constitution and have no respect for our constitution. Raila is part of why the west have no respect for black man's world. He always running to his western masters to take his fellow men to ICC and for help to solve black man's problems. He does not believe in black man's capabilities.

@Sukari: Karibu Dada. Jameni yatubidi sote popote tulipo, wakati wowote kupinga utumiaji wa lugha isiyofaa na iwapo mtu ameitumia ulipo, yakubidi umwonye na kumpinga vikali. Usipofanya hivyo, atazoea kuendelea kutumia lugha chafu na kukufanya uwe "uwanja wa matusi."

Ndugu yetu Tutu wa Afrika ya kusini alisema, " Human beings have an extraordinary capacity for evil; but they have an incredible capacity for good."

Jameni tushirikiane pamoja kupinga uovu popote ulipo 24/7.

The biggest shithole in Africa is kibera where shit is parked in plastic paper bags and thrown all over and Raila happens to be the area member of parliament for over two decades settling people from his rural area there so that he remains in power. Trump is very much on point. Raila is bitter with his statement because he refused to back him during the repeat elections in 2017
