How University Students Posed as Murang'a Women Rep. Sabina Chege to Defraud Former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo

Two Multimedia University students have been charged with defrauding former Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo.

Derrick Kemutai Ng’etich and Edwin Nderitu Warukira are alleged to have fraudulently obtained cash from the ex-MP, while impersonating Murang’a County Women representative Sabina Chege.

On Wednesday the court in Nairobi was told that the two maintained consistent communication with Midiwo through text messages earlier this month, and made him believe she (Sabina) was in real need of cash.

Midiwo sent the cash to them after they convinced him that Sabina’s bank account had been frozen by Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers and would refund once she sorts out the situation.

Afterwards, the two kept sending text messages to Midiwo soliciting for more cash, claiming that the Sabina was really broke and needed more money.

It was at this point that Midiwo suspected foul play and decided to call Sabina using the number he had on his contacts list. He was shocked to learn that he had been conned.

He decided to lure the fraudsters into a trap by pledging to give them Sh100,000 later in the day. The two showed up at the meeting and were arrested by the police.

Kemutai and Nderitu denied the charges before Milimani court Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and were freed on a Sh30,000 cash bail with an alternative bond of Sh50,000.

The case will be heard on April 11th.

Set them free.
They are just supporting à Jubilee government mantra of KUIIBA PAMOJA.

Even Raila Amolo Odinga has joined the thieves and killers, in project OKOA WAJINGA, Forward as One gang of thieves.

So, set these young men free.
