Raila Begins One-Week Visit to the US, to Meet Kenyans in the Diaspora

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has left the country for a one-week visit to the United States.

During his visit, Odinga is expected to deliver a talk at Duke University in North Carolina, his spokesperson Dennis Onyango says.

He is also scheduled to hold meetings with Kenyans from the Raleigh area and American business leaders.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader left the country on Saturday night accompanied by among others Nyando Member of Parliament Jared Okelo.

Odinga was to travel to the US in mid September but the trip was cancelled due to unfavorable weather conditions.

“The postponement is due to the extreme weather conditions building up in US state of North Carolina. Duke University advised that an extremely powerful hurricane, Florence, is expected to land on the North Carolina coast early Friday. The University is therefore on concerted effort to weather the storm," Raila's spokesman Onyango said in a statement at the time.

Vasco Da Gama at it again! Raila Odinga, as part of the huge burden facing Kenyans (others being Uhuru Muigai & Samoei Ruto) should do an honorable thing and exit the political stage asap. These and a few others masquerading as "leaders" have thrown the country to the dogs through incompetent governance that has engendered high level corruption, sold the country to the Chinese for a song forcing millions to live in abject poverty as a few thousand amass enormous riches. Let's all work hard together to eject these three and vote in a patriotic Kenyan IRRESPECTIVE of his or her tribal background come 2022, one who is untainted by the major evils bedeviling our dear country. When will the trees in the forest ever learn that voting for the axe because it has a part that looks like them is a fallacy? Wake up Kenyans!

Anybody aspiring to lead Kenya in whatever capacity should NOT be undertaking luxurious tours abroad to "say hi" to diaspora Kenyans living there and should be very busy working with the poor and needy wherever they are in trying to improve their lot in life. We have a few individuals in political life who are doing exactly this and they may not have the national profile or clout but we really need to do a deep re-think of such leaders and put them in State House come 2022

Political tourist at it again. What has Raila done for at least for his constituency since the "infamous handshake". God give Kenya leaders not politicians. God help Kenya!!!

My question to Raila from diaspora:
1. What makes him more Kenyan than Miguna.
2. Is it true they wanted to Jamal Khashoggi Miguna Miguna in the Kenyan embassy in Canada?
3. Do Kenyan consulates participate in kidnapping and killing people like the Saudi Embassy?

Some comments are not worth posting.
Also, sounds like he is coming to give the speech that was postponed earlier. A better and more accurate heading would be, Raila to meet Kenyans during his visit to give a speech at Duke.

Mwakilishi, what criteria do you use to ok or reject comments?

You have lately rejected some of my comments that I thought were very appropriate and tasteful.

The death of Jamal Khashoggii has opened the eyes of very many people.
RIP Jamal Khashoggi.

Kenyans in the USA should stay away Kenya embassy and consulate.

These people EXPORT their impunity to other countries.

Wake up Kenyans.

No issues here.He has all the rights to visit anywhere he wants so long as it’s not funded by tax payers. No one is forced to attend or foot the bill. My outrage lies with the drunk kingpin and his ,$1000/day,100 man entourage. Duke must see him as a statesman since such engagements are not extended to ‘commonmen’
