My Wife is to Blame for My Woes: Controversial 'Miracle Babies' Preacher Gilbert Deya Says as He Seeks Divorce
Controversial 'miracle babies' preacher Gilbert Deya now says that his wife Mary is to blame for the woes facing him today.
The bishop says that his wife was the person behind the miracle babies saga that has landed him in trouble including being arrested, detained and extradited from the United Kingdom.
He reveals that Mary was running his ministry in Kenya when the miracle babies business happened while he was in London. He says his wife also claimed to have given birth to a miracle baby.
“My wife was in Nairobi, I was in London. She told me that he had miracle babies. I wasn’t there to see or prove if it’s true.”
Deya adds: “She even got pregnant and delivered a baby when I was in London. I don’t know if she cheated on me or it was another miracle baby...How can I be responsible for something that happened in Kenya when I was in the UK?”
“I have never been part of the miracle baby saga,” he tells The Nairobian.
The evangelist further notes that he separated with Mary and is planning to file for a formal divorce.
Deya who is facing child theft charges was in May released on Sh10 million bond after being detained at Kamiti Maximum Prison for one year.
“I found prison life too harsh. I went to the toilet in a bucket, and I was bitten by bed bugs. I had bite marks all over my body, and I decided to do something about it. I built flush toilets in all the cells at Kamiti, I even bought new blankets for everyone. God wanted me to go to Kamiti so that I can change it. If a governor is taken to Kamiti, he will enjoy the facilities I built,” says Deya.

Deya I commend you for leaving Kamiti prison better than you found it. At least when you go back there, work to eliminate bedbugs. Obando will appreciate it.
