Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru Confirms Her Engagement to Popular Kenyan Lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru is now engaged to popular Kenyan lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.

The two lovebirds got engaged during an invite-only party held at Lord Erroll Hotel in Nairobi a few weeks ago, The Standard reports.

Confirming the engagement to the newspaper, lawyer Waiganjo says time was ripe for them to take their relationship to the next level after dating for a couple of years.

“It was a beautiful ceremony. The time was right for us to take our relationship to the next level, ”Waiganjo says.

Governor Waiguru has also confirmed her engagement to the soft-spoken advocate and describes him as an "exceptional man."

She notes: "I was completely surprised [by the engagement]. We had not been talking about formalizing our relationship so I did not expect it. We had just come from holidays and were celebrating his birthday as we do with close friends every year."

“He is an exceptional man. There is no other like him. He was my pillar at the time and has always been. Kind, patient, supportive and level headed."

This puts to rest speculations about her love life, which has remained private despite her high flying career.

The two are said to have met ten years ago at the Likoni ferry in Mombasa and became friends before the relationship turned romantic.

The two are planning to have a formal wedding soon after holding a traditional ceremony in Kirinyaga on February 16th.

Kamotho is a former commissioner at the Commission for Implementation of the Constitution (CIC).

“Kamotho had paid dowry, gone through the Kikuyu custom of paying for the locked gate to be opened, and identified her among women who had covered themselves to gauge his familiarity with his love,” says the Saturday Standard.
