Kenyan-American Trina Njoroge to Run for 2020 Miss California USA

A 23-year-old Kenyan-American woman is among contestants for the 2020 Miss California USA, representing the city pf Hacienda Heights.

Trina Wambui Njoroge, who was born and raised in Bakersfield, California, will go head to head with several other contestants during a pageant scheduled for January 2020.

Miss California USA is a pageant that selects the representative for the state of California in the Miss USA pageant and is part of Miss Universe Organization.

“ I’ve always had a passion for pageantry. I started out with Miss Teen Bakersfield (my hometown) and ran 2 years in a row…winning the second runner up, people’s choice award, and most photogenic award,” says Trina.

Ms. Trina was the winner of the inaugural Face of Kenya Pageant held at the Courtyard Marriot, Sherman Oaks in Los Angeles, California on April 2015. Face of Kenya is a charity pageant that focuses on giving back to the Kenyan community.

“I raised up to $8,000 USD for my charity known as Angels Forgotten, which is a school back in Kenya for kids who are orphans due to the epidemic of HIV/Aids,” she adds.

“I was able to expand the school, renovate their campus as well as build a well closer to the school so it won’t be a commute to collect water.”

The licensed psychiatric technician nurse said she took a break from pageantry after winning the Face of Kenya to concentrate on her studies, but now feels it is time to pursue her passion.

“With the experience I’ve gained working in mental health and taking some time off modeling/pageantry, I wanted to share and advocate for the youth once again. The process of being accepted to the pageant was very long and intimidating,” she notes.

The pageant will be held in San Gabriel, California on January 25th, 2020. The pageant has been held every year since 1952.

Leave the girl alone! Why can’t you just admit that that you’re jealous of her success, wivu utakuwa jamaa. If you cannot handle it, jump into the pool. Wacha wivu.

There are more beautiful Kenyans than this overdone face. There is no authenticity. Pray for her by all means...Kenyans do that all the time. I see her tribesman pushing the agenda here.

@Seneka, everybody is beautiful. God did not create anybody ugly. That being said why are you so bitter? Let her complete that her business. The judges will decide whether she will win or not.

How am I bitter now? I do not know her. Those fake eye-lashes and a heavily contoured face...mscheew. Bring Achieng from the lakeside and see real regal high cheek-bones, elaborate beauty bones and well sculpted features. Hii kina Wambui with central-overshiny foreheads and spindly or hockey stick legs...naah. To be fair, Tyrah Banks has Hockey legs and so does Iman, but they were Models not beauty contestants. This tribal-newletters will do us justice and promote lakeside girls. Central - stick to mbiashara and other dodgy or crooked activities. We love you equally.

Your bitterness is coming out loud and clear. Your words speak more hate than love for those of us descended from Central. No one ethnic group has an inherent grip on beauty, brains or business sense. Stereotyping seems to come easier to certain individuals though. If you live in the US though, these imbecilic tropes you are using mean little. All they see is a black man or woman and all the negative biases they associate with that. Leave the young lady to pursue her happiness. FYI, I didn't choose where I was born & if I could, I'd still choose Central since it is why I am who I am.

Mmmmh ok. Lets agree that am bitter. Can you deny that Luoz are strikingly gorgeous...am not even one. This wambui washed up beauty is nothing african. Just like Kales will run, a truly African beauty will not come from central...has she seen alek wek..wait, those are models. Ok Ajuma. See, I do not suffer political correctness. This fake beauties deny the true african beauties chances...making Kenyanss be brushed as not beautiful...kumbe ni central wanajipeleka na sura mboff. We must share our responsibilities as Kenyans...dont worry. I know the tribalist Mwakilishi will try to parlay this nonsense, but it is our duty as other Kenyans to stop the rubbish.

The beauty of opinions is that we can all have them. I won't be drawn into a tribe thing. All I can tell you is I have met many women of different ethnicities. Some find alek wek gorgeous, others not so much. Beauty was and is well distributed for all tastes to be satisfied. With 40+ groups in Kenya, you will find someone for yourself Luo or otherwise. Good luck.

She’s very happy the way she looks and I doubt if there’s a single penny of yours that she spent on her looks. It’s because of people like you that makes Africa lag behind because we don’t believe in our owns. Trina has move on buddy while you keep on diarrheaing hates.

Shame on you Seneka! Si unjinyonge boss if you cannot handle reading of a successful story of your fellow Kenyans? Or you’re one those who have been taught to hate their own just because they don’t share the same cultural values. You’re an exact sample of a fool that whites want to hear from. Self hate and disgust at it’s best!

why do Kenyans try to steal everyone whose parents or parent is Kenyan? she was born in the states and IS AMERICAN. However, she AIGHT looking.

What is annoying is that you get these bubble heads, who have no knowledge of Kenya encouraging the stereotype that Kenya is AIDS-ridden with orphans lounging around, waiting for this Psychiatric Nurse Technician (Not sure what Career this is - she is not a Nurse, and is not a Psychiatrist). We will not get the respect we deserve as long as we continue selling the nation down the river for a quick shilling. Sasa hii ni nini? The other day, a Braeburn educated Achieng went on DeGeneres to lie that she learned English from her show. Begging will never develop Africa. Hard work, self pride and determination will.

It is all spelled out in Chapter 3 article 14 of the Kenya Constitution. That said, it would be refreshing and honest if someone seeking fame and fortune would emulate daffy duck and admit their passion is money, fame or both
