126 MPs Sign Petition for Removal of National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale

The Jubilee Party is set to hold another parliamentary group meeting to decide the fate of National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale.

This comes after 126 MPs signed a petition for the removal of Duale from the position, according to the newly-elected National Assembly Majority Chief Whip Emmanuel Wangwe.

Addressing journalists on Monday, Wangwe said the petition has been forwarded to President Kenyatta, who is expected to convene a PG meeting to discuss the matter.

“After consultations, it has been decided that the Secretary-General Raphael Tuju will communicate when the meeting will take place,” said Wangwe.

Kieni MP Kanini Kega initiated the process for removal of Duale citing lack of confidence in his leadership.

“The procedure was followed and the procedure required is that whoever has an issue writes to the Whip with the list of MPs who have signed, so yes, the list is there,” said Kega.

Duale, who survived the ongoing Jubilee purge last week, has dismissed his ouster plot, accusing Kega of extortion.

“He is notoriously known for being the king of extortion who thrives in threats and blackmail. He has perfected the art of extortion so well that all he does is to purport to collect signatures only for him thereafter to solicit for favors from myself and my friends as bait for withdrawal of signatures,” said Duale.

“Unfortunately, we are used to his antics and threats and we are not boarding.”

During a PG meeting at State House last week, Duale retained his position while Benjamin Washiali and Cecily Mbarire were stripped of their Majority Whip and Deputy Majority Whip positions respectively.

Washiali was replaced by Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe while Igembe North MP Maoka Maore took over from Mbarire.

Is it true that Duale cried for over an hour begging Uhuru to keep his job during the PG meeting? Really, is it true?
