Kenyan-Born Man Dies of COVID-19 Complications in New Jersey

A 68-year-old Kenyan-born man has died from COVID-19 complications in the US.

Michael Wangondu Gichuhi, who lived and worked in New Jersey, succumbed to the virus last week at Morristown Medical Center, where he has been admitted in the ICU for more than one month.

The deceased worked at various agencies across Central New Jersey for about 20 years, serving the vulnerable and less fortunate.

Gichuhi, who hails from Othaya, Nyeri County, worked as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi (UoN) and National Agricultural Laboratories before moving to the US in 2000.

He was preparing to return to Kenya last November but could not travel due to COVID-19 restrictions. Gichuhi leaves behind a widow and nine children.

His family is making arrangements to repatriate his remains to Othaya, his desired final resting place. Family and friends are appealing for financial support from well-wishers to help airlift his body to Kenya for burial.

For financial support can be sent to Bernard Ogenga: CashApp - 7324339754 ($Bernard Ogenga).

Where from did you get the figures? Which research and evidence based sources? It appears this is meant to send a certain message that Kikuyus are catching COVID-19 due to their behaviors and habits, especially when you have not provided your sources. Bias and stereotyping come into play. Shindwe!

So, you've done your research and concluded that 8/9 out of 10 are from central Kenya? Publish your scientific research instead of engaging in rumour mongering

I used to listen to new in Kenya and "matangazo ya vifo", and was wondering why people from western province died more than from other parts of the country! I came to find out that, these people from the western part of Kenya did broadcast their relatives death on radio more than the other areas. It was not because they died more than the other ethnic groups. Before you throw some fake statistics about who dies from where, do your research and leave stereo type innuendos alone.

However, CNN says that African Americans hardly live upto 65 years. Obesity, drugs, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases are to blame
