Kenyan Bouncers Want Gov’t to Allow Them to Own Guns

The Bouncers Association of Kenya has called on the government to allow its members to undergo gun training and carry firearms.

Addressing the press at City Hall, Nairobi on Tuesday, the association representatives said bouncers deal with armed people in the course of their duty, which poses a threat to their lives.

"Our members of the security stewards are every day dealing with threats of people who are licensed firearms or people who are unlicensed,” they said.

"We are dealing with robbers and terrorists and different kinds of threats. It is very efficient and very important for members of our organization to know how, to, basically gun safety.”

The bouncers want the government to recognize them as security personnel and allow them to be firearm holders.

"This work is what puts food on the table for many people. And this job some of us have not done anything else in our lives, apart from being security personnel," they added.

Bouncers mainly work in nightclubs and are responsible for ensuring revelers are safe within the premises.

They also pleaded with their employers to raise their wages, attributing it to security challenges.

They have very compelling reasons to be allowed to carry firearms. It is indeed acase of a baton vs a glock. When dealing with security, one should be armed for defense as well as offense ,to rival or surpass the bad guys.

It’s more like giving a monkey a wrench 🔧 to fix a car!!! How does that work for you? Kenyans aren’t responsible enough to own guns! Gun violence will be like US on steroids!
