Kenyan Man in the US Exposed in Conspiracy to Kill a Relative

A Kenyan man lodged in a hotel in Putman, Illinois has been arrested and brought before a trial for devising a scheme to kill a female relative.

As per reports, Leonard Thuo Mwithiga had allegedly arranged for a hitman to inject a substance into the victim, intending for her to experience a slow and agonizing demise. The plan aimed for the woman to be fatally ill and die between January 28 and February 3, 2024. According to legal records, it is revealed that the offender came up with the scheme during his stay in Kenya, potentially as a way to avoid being linked to the planned assassination.

Unbeknownst to the main suspect, the individual with whom he was conducting business intending to employ a hitman to carry out his vile mission was an informant operating in harmony with the police. As reported by the protected informant, the Kenyan individual travelled back and forth between the US and Kenya from September 9 to December 1. During this time, the 52-year-old man devised a plot against a relative which came to an abrupt halt when he was intercepted by police officers.

An agent acting as the intended assassin arranged to meet with the victim who, according to official records, was to be drugged as planned by the offender. The suspect has been brought before a judge and charged with witness intimidation, attempted murder, and criminal attempt. United States legislation mandates that a life imprisonment term be handed down to all individuals found guilty of plotting to commit murder.

To prevent escape, the ex-bank manager is required to provide a bail sum of Sh763.4 million (USD 5 million), forfeit all firearms, and refrain from communicating with the plaintiff or approaching anyone recognized in court. To confine him within US borders, the 52-year-old Kenyan has turned over his passport and will have constant surveillance through GPS during his entire lockdown period. The defendant's attorney pleaded to establish a bail of Ksh38.1 million (USD250,000) but their request was rejected. A future hearing for the case will take place on the 26th of January next year.

We have a beautiful country and gorgeous natural resources that attracts even those that that have never set a foot in Kenya. The big five, Mt. Kenya and Kilimanjaro, variety of bird species, attractive landscapes, unique cultural practices, the blue beaches, and a rare-specie born-before marauding thieves manufactured outside the Olduvai Gorge.
The residents of Kenya, many of whom will do everything in their scope to con, craft, eliminate, steal, kill, maim, disfigure, masquerade, dislocate, uproot,
Its a sad story to read on how this moron could plan to assassinate a relative for, as its appears, obviously to take over or illegally possess what she so hard worked for. Most Kenyans at home or in the diaspora are so evil-minded that you wonder whether the Good Lord will ever forgive Trump-like human behavior embedded in our DNA. Ewe Mungu tusaidie.

Correction. Your statement should begin as " We USED to have......". Because all those attributes aren't there any more. Mt Kenya is shaved of it's forests, the peaks are not snowy and the mountain streams have either diminished or become silty. The beaches have been acquired and fenced off, and those still accessible to the public are overcrowded and infested with hawkers and petty criminals. Mombasa, Nairobi and other formerly pretty and welcoming towns are overflowing with hawkers and trash, noise pollution and poorly planned ugly structures. Corruption is everywhere and the people have lost their culture in favour of Sheng and mitumba. The Kenya you describe used to exist before the eighties, but it's no more. Believe me, I was there, I lived it, and I miss sorely miss it.

There are crimes referred to in Latin as "mala in se" crimes which literally means crimes which are bad in themselves. These are the sort of crimes that shocks the conscience of a moral society and Leonard Thuo Mwithiga forgot that as a US citizen, he would be charged in the US under the "mala in se" doctrine even though he planned to commit the crime in Tharaka Nithi. lakini asijali, jela zilijengewa wanaume (sic).

Mwithiga was going through divorce proceedings and had allegedly come from Kenya to Connecticut to get his two children, according to court documents. “This man had a plan to kill his wife,” a state prosecutor said in court on Tuesday. “I think he poses a serious threat not only to his wife but also his children.” 1 day ago

Learn to forgive and forget that your enemy ever existed just like folks that were here 100 years ago that you never saw. 1000 yrs from now this stuff won't matter. Think long term

@ Comrade Kora Kanini, It all started when Even tricked Adam into chomping on the Mackintosh Apple.Since then, you trust women at your own peril, and or downfall.
I hear that marriage is a social construct.Probably the model we are using is outdated. We know men and women have to somehow come together for procreation. What I dont understand why it should be a struggle to live together.May be we should coexist like animals of whom we are anyway.I would love to come back as a male lion in my next life.

@ Geoffrey Ngara, definitely the man fails on all virtuous levels any human being could have.Probably alot shall be revealed later, but if he has kids can you imagine how they feel? I can even imagine my mzee wanting to eliminate my mother despite whatever problems they might have had.
Unfortunately what he did is not new,and it cuts bothways.I have seen cases where the wife hires a hitman to eliminate the hubby for insurance money. I wonder if this guy was of that mind.Driven by greed. At least here from what we are reading, the wife is alive.

You can't put a price on freedom. So maybe the wife grabbed his stuff. Just let it go and move on.
A KCB Director is not a pauper by any means. He made emotional decisions that will see him sit in prison for the rest of his natural life.

I’m glad that the hired hitman was an undercover officer!!! Good job 👍🏽

Men, if you are leading your family to emigrate to America, or your wife is moving to America, and you continue to believe that you will still have her and the kids, you are really NAIVE. You must start to prepare for break up on day one on the flight day and cushion yourself for the coming divorce. Even get yourself another woman-in-waiting, because,as surely as the sun rises from the east, your marriage will be history the day she lands on US soil.
