Kalonzo Reveals Why He Won't Support Raila in 2027

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has expressed his decision not to support Raila Odinga's presidential candidacy in 2027.

According to Kalonzo, relinquishing his own aspirations for the presidency would essentially equate to his permanent departure from the political arena. He adamantly asserts that this is not a viable option for him. Moreover, Kalonzo emphasizes that President William Ruto should brace himself for a formidable challenger in the upcoming elections. During a recent interview on NTV, he stated, "If I were to give up my presidential aspirations for Raila, it would signify the end of my political career. It's as simple as that. Giving up my presidential ambitions is not even a consideration."

He urges Ruto to be prepared as the nation is demanding change. According to Kalonzo, the signs are clear and impossible to ignore. Kalonzo acknowledges the nation's longing for a different government and assures that an announcement on this prospect will soon be made. He emphasizes the need to establish a competitive political environment, as Kenyans are desperate for an alternative and feel stifled. Additionally, the former Vice President reiterates his readiness to lead the country, recalling his preparedness in 2002 and 2013.

"I was ready in 2002 and 2013. Why do you think I will not be ready in 2027? When in fact the country seems to be speaking in unison. William Ruto himself announced my candidature in Homa Bay completely unsolicited. Even William Ruto might end up giving me his vote."

Kalonzo still presents himself as the ideal candidate to succeed Raila in Azimio, following Raila's unsuccessful fifth attempt at the presidency. He has also revealed his intentions to initiate early campaign efforts for the upcoming 2027 elections. Leaders aligned with his Wiper party maintain that he is the most suitable individual for the position.
