Still the story makes absolute zero sense!!! No one went into the hotel room for all these days???

If there is a "do not disturb" sign on the door, and he has not overstayed his booking, then it is possible that no hotel staff would go into the room.

I would like to believe that the hotel staff are trained to look for “Do Not Disturb” signs at the door that don’t move for at least a couple of days!

Also, assuming that he died days ago, there gotta have been a smell of death!

Unless this was a cheap $25 a night cockroaches ridden motel where nobody cares about what the hell is going on within the property, this still doesn’t make much sense!!!

Let me tell you that all employers in America are having problems recruiting new talent. The new generation doesn't care to care. America is in a free fall. I am a Kenyan American working for a major hotel chain in America as a security detail. I cannot give you a limit count of how many times I have to alert hotel staff about the safety of our guests and do welfare checks. Unfortunately, most hotels train staff to honor that "Do not disturb sign." They respect it like the holy Grail. I would like to discourage that DND sign. I view it as a death trap.
The hotels are not putting effort into training staff because of incidents of staff poaching. Today you train one staff and they ran say to a new job site. There is a shortage of good skilled labor even though we have a lot of undocumented immigrants and pending visa applications. Please avoid that DND sign. Be safe out there.

Yah, I disagree with the assumption that America is in a free fall, quite to the contrary!

But those lazy hotel workers ought to be fired anyway! I do agree that the hospitality industry got hit hard due to the COVID and most of the experienced workers found greener pastures elsewhere!

But still that’s no excuse not to check on a room for days!

I would like to believe that no one is fackin a bìtch continuously for days! Aaah 😌 common sense isn’t that common!

@Nguli, America is not any where near the state of free fall! You just have not seen the real America if all you do is work 24/7 as a hotel security guard!

You are making mere assumptions because you have not travelled elsewhere in the world - except maybe Kenya and America. Do not let the small ghetto neighborhood you live in blind your eyes to see America at large! I day so because security guards don’t make enough money to live in socially acceptable places.

I have lived and worked all over America, Europe, South and Central America, Asia, a good number of Arab countries, Canada, etc and I have not seen the true goodness of being an American anywhere else in the world. I worked in Norway for a good four years! But Norway is not as good as America although it is classified as number one country to live.

Most of those countries I mentioned earlier are in a real state of free fall! Take some time off and travel around the world and your opinions and views about America (even on a bad day when Trump call Africa a shithole country) will change!

Hey John, you are deeply mistaken about America! It is not in a state of free fall! Who told you that shit? Hope you are not mistaking America with your home country of Kenya.

Nguli - how come you accepted the citizenship of a country that is in a free fall? You can always give up your American citizenship and return to Kenya to work as a security guard in some big hotels there! 680 hotel is hiring security guards!

I went to a hotel in Winchester Virginia. They told me I will be cleaning my room and going to the front desk to get the towels. I was there for work. I asked they what is the $120 per night for. I called employer and told them to transfer me to another hotel.

Where does it say his body was there for days? They found him and probably took time to locate his next of kin? Did you think of that? Or do you have your next of kin contacts pinned on your persona?

I wish those commenting would just remember that this guy has loved ones who are grieving. Why are we so insensitive with some of our comments? Let his soul rest in peace and just take a minute to think (humanly) about his immediate relatives and what they are going through right now.

He could have had a clot or a heart attack from the covid shot. Nurses were required to get them and if he traveled internationally he would have had to have one! He may have had several boosters which caused him to have either long clots or a massive heart attack.
It's amazing no one noticed a smell! Especially in New York City although it is cold up there the hallways are heated I would think and I would assume it would smell badly! And why didn't know housekeeping go in the room or knock on the door after several days of do not disturb?

It so sad. Really sad. Am thinking...was it fatigue from too much travelling, a heart attack? In such cold seasons especially in New York, people keep indoors but I wonder how the room attendants stayed that long before changing linens. In my state, we have buried several Kenyans whose decomposing bodies were found in their apartments or homes many weeks later. We live in a country where loneliness, work-work-work or minding your own business culture really keeps us away from families and friends. Its an acceptable norm. My cousins month-long decomposing body was discovered after neighbors complained of a foul smell within their floor. Its important we check on each specially when you call somebody and doesn't respond after two to three. Its painful to lose anybody at the prime of his career when we remember the many stages you have to undergo before you become a nurse. Rest in peace brother.

May my dear friend John rest in peace, and may God give comfort to his grieving family. He was such a great young man who just wanted to help people. Gone way too soon, and I still can't accept it. Please be kind in your comments, because some things just don't need to be said.💔

Kenyans please! Get exposed once and for all and stop being vitriolic. Death is normal, and all of you will die, as I will. Who cares where it happens? When your time comes, you will go.

For some reason Africans don't believe that one can just die. Someone always kills Africans. A 90, 70, 50-year old dies, and all you hear from villagers to diaspora - murmurs of someone killing them. Life and time are not promised.

John got his pair of wings and passed on. His family has shared that he died in his sleep. I hope it was peaceful, may his soul rest in peace, and pray that his family is grateful that it was not a difficult transition.
