A section of Parliament buildings was on Tuesday afternoon engulfed in flames.
Plumes of smoke filled the sky as protestors breached police barricades and stormed the complex. The fire reportedly began on the third floor of the National Council of Provinces building, rapidly spreading to encompass office spaces and the gymnasium. Flames eventually reached the National Assembly, causing significant damage to both the new and old structures, including offices and gymnasiums. Fortunately, initial reports indicate that important works of art and historical artefacts within the complex were spared.
Chaos erupted as protestors overwhelmed law enforcement guarding the parliament buildings. Individuals were seen fleeing for safety amidst the confusion, while police struggled to contain the situation. Authorities prioritized the evacuation of Members of Parliament (MPs), ushering them to safety through an underground tunnel or sheltering them in the basement until evacuation was possible. Journalists on the scene reported that some MPs became overwhelmed during the evacuation, requiring assistance from police. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Police officers resorted to gunfire as protesters breached security barriers near parliament, injuring many protestors and tragically claiming the life of one. This use of force has drawn swift condemnation from the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) which emphasises the need for justice and accountability for the victims.

"All politicians must be banned from making public speeches in all places of worship in Kenya. When? Immediately." I have raise this point numerous times. But ofcourse coming from a Kaffir like me,it is taken as anti-christ.
I blame men and women of the cloth who have been bought,by large donations ,largely stolen from public coffers.
A house of prayers should not be politicized.Politicians can go there and pray,at least pretend to.They should not even speak on the podium. They should not desecrate the sanctity of the place of worship.
This is why we have a separation of state and religion. Politicians stay away from making political speeches in houses of worship.
You mean the Son of God!
Bring on the GSU and fagia dhem criminals!!!
The problem isn't the people who are fed up with the the neverending demand for more taxes. It's this government with its wasteful travel, luxury cars, excessive allowances and salaries and a bloated government. My state(CO) has a 120 day legislative session, pays them $41-44k and grants allowances only during the session and they but their own vehicles. The governor makes $90k just slightly over the state median income, and is not the highest paid public employee in a state with a $428 billion gdp. Individual income tax rate is 4.4%. Something is wrong with this picture
We have enough money in the country. But this money is mismanaged, stolen, and wasted by a corrupt regime.I have said it,and i will say it again,"the power to effect change is with the masses"And this power is manifesting it's self right before our very eyes.
In another post, I pointed out that according to the world bank data collectors, 1 in 6 Kenyans lives bellow the international poverty line.No doubt if the tax bill had passed this ratio would be probably 1 in 12 Kenyans;or worse.
It is said that the most dangerous person in a society is the one who has nothing to lose...So you greedy and corrupt officials in power are to blame for what is going on in the country. You were not elected to run the country like your own personal business.Yes, its time for you to be held to account.Hopefully this is ateachable moment for Mpigs. And If they have truly learned anything from this
"revolution", they should show it by slashing their obscene and exorbitant benefits. They certainly do not put in their worth.Yes, its a teachable moment.Mpigs still have time to do what is right by their constituents, and before the next elections. So please start by being transparent, and also fulfill the promises you made to your voters. My two cents.
Please report the COUNTRY in which this happening - preferably in the title!!!
Kenyans must have a class on peaceful demo. Gen Z were peaceful but hijacked demo caused death and destruction.
Bill triggered the demo but anger has been boiled since last year. Hopefully authorities understand this. Dialogue is the best way forward
All politicians must be banned from making public speeches in all places of worship in Kenya. When? Immediately.
The son of Mariam taught his disciples how to pray and where to pray. See below what he said in:
Matthew 6:6-8
"6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."
