Kenyans in South Africa Mourn Northern Cape Leader Fredrick Gichohi

Fredrick Cira Gichohi, a prominent member of Kenya’s diaspora community in South Africa, has died in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

Gichohi served as chairperson of the Kenyan Diaspora South Africa (KEDASA) in the Northern Cape for the past two years. During his tenure, he represented and supported Kenyans living in the province, helping to strengthen KEDASA as a platform for advocacy, solidarity and community support.

His colleagues and fellow community members have remembered him as a leader of integrity who was committed to serving the interests of Kenyans in the region. They also praised his willingness to give his time and energy to community initiatives.

Tributes have come from across the Kenyan diaspora, reflecting the respect he earned through his leadership and community involvement. He was remembered for combining his responsibilities as a leader with compassion and concern for others.

Gichohi’s death has also been felt as a significant loss to the wider diaspora community in the Northern Cape. His organisational skills and guidance played an important role in the work of the movement in the province.

Away from his public responsibilities, Gichohi was a husband to Triza and a father to Magda and Gichohi. Members of the community have expressed their condolences to his family as they mourn his death.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course. In the meantime, members of the Kenyan diaspora continue to pay tribute to Gichohi and remember his contribution to the community.

His death leaves a leadership gap within the Northern Cape diaspora community, where he played an active role in representing and supporting fellow Kenyans.
