US Green Card Lottery Period for Fiscal Year 2020 Begins October 3rd, 2018

US Green Card Lottery Period for Fiscal Year 2020 Begins October 3rd, 2018

The US State Department has announced that the entry period for the Diversity Visa program for the fiscal year 2020 (DV-2020), popularly known as the Green Card Lottery, will begin on Wednesday, October 3rd at 12pm EDT and end on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 12pm EST.

Administrated by the Department of State, the lottery program makes 55,000 permanent resident visas (green cards) available to national of countries with historically low number of immigrants in the United States.

Kenya is among the countries eligible to participate in the program.

For DV-2020, nationals of the following countries are ineligible to participate in the program because they have had more than 50,000 natives immigrate to the United States over the last five years: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea,  United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.

Winners of the DV-2019 lottery program will be eligible to migrate to the United States starting in January, 2020 after passing through mandatory background checks and interviews at the US embassies located in their home countries. It is only after passing the background checks and interview that lottery winners will be issued with a permanent resident visa (green card).

To qualify for a Diversity Visa,  an applicant must be a national of a qualifying country and have either completed high school education or have worked in a qualifying occupation for at least two years. Anyone who does not meet this minimum criteria is urged not to submit an application, as they will NOT be issued with a permanent resident visa even if they are selected in the lottery.

There is no cost to register participate in the lottery.

The State Department also strongly urges entrants to complete the entry form themselves, without a “visa consultant” or “visa agent”.

Applications  are only accepted online at the Department of State website.

Dear sir/Madam:
To a point, the issues with the DV program all over the World is not really bad, but this is my question,
If I can obtain a response from your office, what are you doing about people that were not selected because of lamented spaces?
How can an individuals get his or her successfulness through this processes?
What is the current information about the cancellation of the DV program process done by Mr. Donald's have gone?
I will be grateful to be one of your candidates for the 2020 process,in Jesus Christ mighty name Amen.
Best regard
Marshall Y Kehn

I real appreciate for such an opportunity. I'll embrace it and try my luck. I have two inquiries, i) how can I apply for that opportunity?
ii) I have heard of people who apply green card through cybers and when their chances come/ when they qualify they are asked for money from cyber agents to receive their pins. How can this be avoided if the allegations are true?

You can apply,,no discrimination, secondly the reason for using cyber is of the photo and access to internet,,of you can get a digital photo meeting the requirements then go to any reliable internet do your thing....application without even telling any one your business, then at the end of the application after submission you will get an auto generated code,,print it ,save it that is what you will use to check your results early mid of next year.

US Green card Lottery is what I have been waiting for because America is my dream country. I will apply and qualify for this 2020, There is nothing difficult in this process, all it needs is to be confident and fill the form with correct and updated information, then meet the minimum requirements which includes being a holder of secondary school certificate or at least two years of work experience, Edit your photo to meet the photograph requirements and that is all.

Glory n gratitude vehemently goes an to our Almighty God for enabling US such an opportunity each year to accommodate numerous immigrants. This is great support to countless families whose loved ones attain their dream to work n leave in US.Ultimately this goes along way in eradicating poverty in the Nations where winners are drawn.
My earnest prayer is that US perpetually be holistically protected of our righteous God. Finally I vehemently make a humble prayer that this year God remembers my dear son to emerge a winner for DV-2020, among other people who will be victorious.
Amen and Amen.
I always pray for US n will always continue praying for un ending Blessings for America.

It has always been my dream to become American citizen ever since I was young, hope and pray that I be among the lucky once.

hani fteita (not verified)     Fri, 09/28/2018 @ 03:18pm

it's nice to become a permanent resident, but it takes 5 years to become a citizen you must stay in the US for at least 30 months (half of 5 years)to qualify, there is no assistance from the government you have to work and rely on your own income and pay your tax. America is for the young and hard working people, or if you have a good capital to start your own business.
