A total of 5,263 Kenyan nationals were granted permanent resident status (green cards) in the first three quarters of 2018, newly released data from the United States Department of Homeland Security indicates.

The number includes 2,934 individuals already living in the United States who adjusted their status and 2,329 new arrivals,  and comprises all classes of admission including diversity visas/green card lottery winners, immediate relatives of US citizens, family-sponsored preferences, employment-based preferences, and asylees.

For the first three quarters of 2018, Mexico had the most nationals granted permanency residency with 120,936 green cards granted, followed by Cuba (59,716),  China (52,846), India (47,468), the Dominican Republic (40,575), and the Philippines (35,848).

Over the same period, a total of 820,748 foreign nationals worldwide were granted permanent residency (Africa: 83,592, Asia: 303,768, Europe: 60,512, North America - including Mexico: 310,351, Oceania: 3,469, South America: 58,328, unknown: 730).

6,957 and 6,274 Kenyans were granted permanent resident status in 2017 and 2016 respectively by the US Immigration and Citizenship Services (USCIS).

I think they are focused the United States provides very good opportunities. Those who regret mostly lack information about culture shock therefore they resist change. Those who adapt, adjust, go back to school or start businesses and accept America is America and Kenya is Kenya are very successful. Depends with the crowd they come in contact with.

America is not as bad as people make it out to be...with hardwork, patience and perseverance it'll be a walk in the park living. I came here 15 years ago on a student Visa, 5 kids and a wife down the road, can't say it's been easy but I wouldn't trade it for anything. If you can make it here, by all means do all it takes. It's worth it even now in the Trumo era #blessAmerica

Wow Michael I agree with you 💯 I also came to America more than 15 years ago and will not trade that. If people have immigration right and focus on education and apply for jobs like other Americans do we can’t even compare. There are so many other opportunities besides education and the system is fair. I do not have to have a rich uncle to make it here. I love America it gave me opportunities that no one else gave me. Many people refuse to accept culture shock which can take years. They hung out with wrong negative minds that’s why they do not succeed. America the great !!!!!

Honestly you might have come in contact with the wrong crowd and did not adapt. America has opportunities if you get immigration straight and go to school find a job like other Americans. It’s sad that Kenyans spread the message of failure in the United States. Culture shock is real and those that do not adapt and accept things the Roman way really struggle. Kenya is kenya America is America once you get that it’s actually a very good nation

Please dont post stuff u have no idea of. I think its wise to be quiet. It's not always about a bad group. Actually I think u have a bad group discouraging you about going back to Kenya.

People if u come here please do reconsider investing at home. Also it will be wise if you obtain an American citizen before u decide to relocate back home for good. Remember I said Citizen not green card. Yes go back to school get a good job and keep buying those lands at home. Why? It will be way to better to retire at home. Your lands will be a better deal to sell and build a home. Visit home more often to adapt with the changes of back home. Yes of course have a good company who will love to relocate home but after some research. If things dont work ou te good even after 8 years you are an us Citizen you can always come back.

BUT if u have a good life in Kenya please dont come here yes you will regret of dropping your life in Kenya for some struggles and adjustments

Yes It's true that you don't need to dispose any properties at home to come to the US. If you have a family come settle before you bring them along unless your host is willing to accomodate both of you as you wait for your papers and find a job. The main difference with kenya is the job opportunities. Remember most people head back home after retirement and therefore you will need to invest at home.
