The Orange democratic Movement (ODM) has issued conditions to the organizers of the 2017 presidential debate.
The party's Director of Elections and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed spelt out some demands for debate, saying that ODM and NASA expect its flag bearer Raila Odinga to only debate President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Junet said the opposition will not allow their candidate to be subjected to a debate with mediocre presidential candidates. "It is not about the right to be heard, this is a serious matter on how to run this country and it is not comedy," said Junet.
Junet said that the other candidates who are seeking to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta were not serious, and it would be silly to subject their candidate to a debate with them.
The Country's highest political seat has attracted more than 15 presidential aspirants including the two front-runners, Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee and Raila Odinga of National Super Alliance (NASA).
The debates are scheduled on July 10 and July 24, 2017 ahead of the August poll.

You are right Bmore. And yes its about getting heard nothing else.Ofcourse we hope that the candidates will debate, and not clown on the stage. By the way, its the voters who will decide who is mediocre and not RAO's camp.
Hata raira kinakuanga medioko - infact, he is the oldest - thus he has the most medioko experience acquired over a 30yr career of running for president ... nyeff nyeff

adjective
"of only moderate quality; not very good.
"a mediocre actor"
synonyms: ordinary, average, middling, middle-of-the-road, uninspired, undistinguished, indifferent, unexceptional, unexciting, unremarkable, run-of-the-mill, pedestrian, prosaic, lackluster, forgettable, amateur, amateurish; " in case the MP was not aware of what the word mediocre means, and he has no business calling other aspirants mediocre, if the NASA flag bearer does not wish to debate anybody but the president, that all the MP should say, he should learn not to demean the other aspirants.
The "Big Man Syndrome" just came out too early. Why then would the Nasa or Odm in this case seek the support of these small "mediocre" parties?
Since this is a copy and paste of the USA debate...........'Presidential Debates (CPD) requires that candidates poll at 15 percent in five national surveys leading up to the three scheduled debates'........Some of those candidates do not have even 1%. It is a waste of time to debate with them. I'm not Raila supporter but I see his point here.
If mediocre candidates are excluded, Raila himself will be missing in action!
The person who is not supposed to b there no hiki kiguka(rao)who had no vision for Kenya. He is the oldest warthog who ought not to b competing with his children debating.
It will very unfair to deny any Kenyan to participate in debate as long as they're qualified . Some have good materials.
