Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo’s re-election bid has received a major setback after President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday endorsed his rival for Kiambu governor race, Ferdinand Waititu.
While on a campaign trail in his Kiambu backyard, the head of state called on residents to elect Jubilee party candidates in the August 8 election, arguing that it will give him numerical strengths in both legislative houses and also ensure Jubilee has a good number of governors manning the counties.
According to the head of state, he would prefer to work with those who were elected during the primaries to fulfill the Jubilee party agenda.
"We did not interfere with the nominations. The people that Kiambu people decided on are the ones we should elect during the polls." Uhuru said. "I did not bring them. It is you who chose them. I would want that you vote for the lot (Jubilee) so that I have a team I can work with," he added.
Kabogo has embarked on a door-to-door campaign, as he tries to convince Kiambu residents to give him another five years term in office.
Attempts by independent candidates to catch the president's eye bore no fruits as they were not recognized by the Jubilee brigade.
Kabogo suffered a humiliating defeat in the hands of Kabete Member of Parliament Ferdinand Waititu in the race for the Jubilee party ticket during the April Nominations. Kabogo dismissed Waititu’s victory claiming massive rigging in the primaries, and has since ditched the President’s party to defend his seat as an independent candidate.
President Uhuru addressed a series of rallies in Githunguri town, Ruiru, Juja, and finally Thika Stadium he held a major rally.

Why can't Muigai withdraw his protection on pharmacist Kabogo in his illicit drug trade all together?Muigai should also challenge murderer Kabogo to tell Kenyans why he killed Mercy Keino,MP Mukuru Muchai and former MP-George Thuu.
My fellow Kenyans:
Neither Raila nor Uhuru is capable of taming the mess that we have in Kenya. Why can't we appoint some body else to take over the leadership of Kenya come August 8, 2017.
I suggest we nominate the current Chief Justice of Kenya. He will save our nation from the current "moral decay" that we are experiencing in all spheres of social life.
For those who are quick to find fault in my posts, I am not a member of the Gusii micro-nation.
We all know from the history of Gatundu that Uhuru failed to win any political seat on his own merit. Had it not been for dictator Kipkorios Toroitich Arap Moi, no one would have known Uhuru.
Uhuru learned from his father and Toroitich (not Mwai) to be the kind of leader that he is. He has appointed his people (the Gikuyu) in very senior positions more than what his father did! The corruption that has happened under his leadership is unparalleled in the entire Kenyan history.
Yote yawezekana bila Raila au Uhuru.
Kabogo
