Hostile Reception Forces Raila to Call-off Kabarnet Rally

National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga was forced to cut short his speech and call off a campaign rally at Kabarnet town in Baringo County on Wednesday after a hostile reception by Jubilee supporters.
The former Prime Minister, accompanied by co-principals Musalia Mudavadi and Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto had a difficult time addressing the crowd that was chanting Jubilee slogans.
Things got our of hand after the crowd threw Nasa-branded caps to the dais as the leaders addressed them, forcing them to call off the gathering.
Police had an uphill task calming the crowd that shouted down Ruto, the Bomet governor, branding him a traitor. Ruto ditched Jubilee for opposition few months ago, citing corruption by Jubilee administration.
The leaders finally succumbed to pressure from the crowd and abandoned the rally heading to Eldama Ravine for another meeting.
Earlier, Raila Odinga, Mudavadi and Ruto held a successful rally at Chemolingot trading centre.
Elsewhere in Kisumu County, Deputy President William Ruto was jeered by a section of crowd as president Uhuru commissioned a 15 billion brewery plant in Kisumu County. The plant by the giant East Africa Breweries is expected to employ over 10,000 in the region.
The crowd prevented Ruto from adressing them and demanded the president to take the microphone from him chanting, "Hatutaki Ruto...Hatutaki Ruto".
